Secondary Operations & Value-Added Fabrication

Tencom pultrudes custom and standard fiberglass profiles in Holland, Ohio — and we finish them here too. Instead of shipping a long profile to another shop for cutting, drilling, or end work, you can get parts that are closer to ready to install from one source.

We’ve been producing custom pultrusions since 1991. Our in-house machining and fabrication capabilities are built around the same composites we manufacture, so the material, tolerances, and quality stay consistent from the die to the finished part.

What we do after pultrusion

  • Precision cut-to-length, including high-precision automatic cutting when tight tolerances are required
  • Machining of holes, slots, notches, and other features so parts drop into your assembly
  • End treatments such as chamfering, rounding, and pointing
  • Additional finishing including drilling, grinding, and sandblasting

We work from your drawings, or we can help refine them so the secondary operations match how the part will actually be used.

Why keep fabrication in-house

Sending pultruded profiles out for secondary work adds freight, handling, and the risk of damage or variation. Doing it here gives you:

  • One source for both the profile and the finished part
  • Better control over tolerances and quality
  • Faster overall lead times
  • Less handling
  • Simpler purchasing and documentation

Because we already know the material, we can select the right tooling and speeds to reduce chipping, delamination, and fiber breakout that can occur when shops that don’t specialize in composites machine FRP.

Precision and quality

We hold tight tolerances on both the pultruded profile and the secondary work. When extreme accuracy is needed, we use our high-precision automatic cutter. We do all of this under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system, from prototype through production.

Typical applications

Secondary operations are commonly requested on:

  • Utility and infrastructure components that must fit existing hardware
  • Window and door reinforcements that need clean ends or exact lengths
  • Tool handles, poles, and rods that require pointed, rounded, or chamfered ends
  • Custom OEM parts that need to assemble without extra machining on your floor

Send a drawing or even a sketch of the finished part. We’ll tell you what we can do in-house and the most efficient way to get it done.
